Spooky season brings out the inner child in all of us, transporting us back to the amazing experiences we had as kids. Halloween is the one time of year when we can play dress up, and literally anything goes when it comes to choosing a costume. Whether it’s silly and sweet or scary and gory, there’s no wrong way to celebrate the holiday.

So let’s creep it real: Pick a costume that shows off your stunning white, silver, and gray hair! If you are looking for some spooktacular ways to make everyone stop and stare at your natural hair, check out these suggestions for some of our favorite eerie-sistible looks.

DAENERYS TARGARYEN (GAME OF THRONES)

The infamous exiled princess from Game of Thrones is a confident warrior with long white hair fitting for her royal stature. The dual braids directing off her face represent the tangled journey her life has taken. This orphan is convinced she is the rightful heir to the Iron Throne and will stop at nothing to reclaim it.

How to Get the Look: Always apply a heat protectant spray to white hair before using hot tools to prevent from yellowing. Use a large barrel curling iron to create the soft waves, curling in the same direction to keep a sleek appearance. Braid a 1-inch section from the front and entwine it with another braid you formed from the back. Spray with a firm-hold hairspray to keep flyaways at bay.

STORM (X-MEN)

Notoriously played by actress Halle Berry in the X-Men series, Storm’s signature silvery/white hair was entirely on theme since her character had the ability to change the weather. This distinctive blend of metallic silver and shocking white was said to be part of her family legacy, which is apropos since genetics plays a key role in determining hair color. Show off your powerful, rebellious side with this intimidating cropped silhouette.

How to Get the Look: After applying your heat protectant, use a large barrel blow dry brush, smoothing hair down from the root and flipping out and up as you reach the ends. Emulsify a quarter-sized amount of a styling wax in your palms before running through the hair for a piecey texture.

BEETLEJUICE

Though seen with many different hair colors in various portrayals, we prefer our favorite ghost with gray hair simply because it complements those lovely black and white vertical stripes so well. Known as the obnoxious and devious ghost who works hard to scare people, Beetlejuice hasn’t seen a comb in ages so it’s no surprise the hair is one heck of a hot mess!

How to Get the Look: Spray dry shampoo at the roots, lifting hair section by section to ensure maximum texture. Flip head and hair forward, using your fingers to tousle the hair at the scalp. Backcomb for fullness, finishing with a firm-hold hairspray.
